Mud on tree means there is mud source around andthere is wild boars around which layed in it and itched their back on tree Pic 1-2 Usually you see those signs around 10-20 yards far from mud source. In another saying Wil Boar Lays in Mud rolls in some and finds a availible tree to itch their back and never been picky on this and doesnt walk 200 yards for itching.

If you see scratces on tree this is the sign of a trofee Male wild Boar. (Pic.3-4) Some hunters belive that Male boras does this to sharp their teeth and chase bugs on peel off tree... But the truth is Male Boars does this to able to brake their molar teeth with a natural born instict.... Because Their teeth growing never stops and in time they curves over their nose and lock their jaws and kill them bacause of hungar.... Beside this Male Wild Boars always chooses younger trees with a tighter Peel to brake Their teeth instead of old trees (Teeth growing speed depends of the wild Boars diet..... For example if they share their habitat with a Deer Population this process shortens.. Deer Horns are wild boars one of the best preference to chew and it has lots of calcium in it.)

There is another thing about Mud on tree is Upper border of mud which is important for guessing the size of Wild Boar... Because of their Anatomhy Wild Boars cant arise their heads and cant look up to sky. Wild Boars itch themself as they lean on tree and move their body on a horizontal line. That Because the height of the mud can give you the idea about the size of wild Boar. You can compare the height of mud with My friends belt  stand behind the tree (he is about 6 feet tall) (pic. 5-6) You can see that was a quite trofee Male boar but those tracks we found around tree was few weeks old. We guessed that old fellow probably changed his area.

Wild Boars are Surely travelling nomad Mammals in their areas. Depending to ground they can leave reasonable marks because of their weight. If ground is too hard or grassy It is hard to find their tracks. But on Grassy ground you can find their ways instead of foot steps. Because of their nature Wild Boars group members moves seperate from others and feed alone in field.( Except hunting rabbit kind of small sized mammals. they show group action while hunting.. ) But when moving in field They walk or run in a line and follow their Group leader Dominant female and she decides where to go. And they leave clear ways behind them (Pic 7). In smaller groups like single Family Group leader might be Male Boar (Note: Older Male Boars are not allow to live in groups. Because of their cannibalism and instict of killing babies to force females breeding again. That Because Alone Wild Boars are mostly best Troffees and only  in breeding season you can see them in groups. Actually they fights for females but most of the time younger ones wins this strugle because of their sharper teeth.)

Grounds shape is one of the important thing is about sign cutting in woods İf Ground is sandy there is a quite possibility to see good tracks. But because of the nature of sand its also hides track from the eyes. On sandy areas its best to wait for early morning or late mid day when Shadows are longer with smoother light. On Sandy grounds fresh tracks seen sharper than older ones. Older ones looks lighter and blurry because of the winds damage. (Pic-8)

Muddy Grounds are the best   for sign cutting You can see tracks like like left there with a mould. To understand freshness of Track in mud you need to pay attention to colors of inside and outside of track. Newer tracks inner sides seen darker than surface and you dont see much leafs etc. came by wind in newer tracks. But do not bother spider webs on them. This can fake you big time cause those 6 legged fellows can put a web on a track in few hours. Just make sure you checked control the color difference wind leftouts on tracks even if there is web on it.(Pic 9-10)

Pic -9 is belong to a male Wild Boar. Only male W.Boars leaves 4 part (hoofs) tracks on  ground.Pic- 9 is showing a Male W.Boar Track which is on a vertical wall of a wheel track
